Summer is here at last! I'm sure we can all feel the magic in the air as we wake up to these beautiful sunny mornings; the birds are singing, the flowers are in bloom, and the air seems that much warmer by the day.

A note for those concerned about chemical sensitivity: I've suffered from sensitive skin for years - everything seems to irritate it. And over the past few years, I've developed a kind of chemical sensitivity. If I'm around most cleaning products, I get dizzy, weak, ill, and extremely 'brain-fogged'. Most skincare products make my skin break out, go flaky, itch, burn, and generally make its disagreement known pretty loud and clear. Recipe: Alpha Lipid LifeLine & Banana Smoothie

Erin demonstrates how to make a fantastic Alpha Lipid LifeLine, Banana and Honey Smoothie. Use this as the basis of many variations of smoothie. This tastes amazing, has all the goodness of Alpha Lipid LifeLine, the antibacterial properties of NZ Manuka Honey, the potassium and fibre content of bananas, and the calcium, vitamin D, and fat content of milk.

Ingredients:

2 Bananas
1-2 cups milk
Dessertspoon of Manuka Honey (or other dark bush honey)
2 scoops Alpha Lipid LifeLine colostrum powder

Serves: 2-3

Notes...

• Add ground Flaxseeds/Linseeds for added Omega 3 fatty acid content; something most people are greatly lacking in today's diet, and to add mucilage
  
  
• Add psyllium husks to bulk it out and add fibre for those with digestive troubles
  
  
• Add avocado for a dose of good fats, and to add even more to the creamy texture
  
  
• Add ice in summer for cooling and crunch-factor
  

In this video I used raw milk. I love raw milk - i.e. unpasteurised, whole milk - as it's super creamy, full of fat - which makes you feel fuller for longer - contains enzymes to help digestion, and often other good bacteria to boost immunity and gut health. As I've said previously, my personal philosophy on health is that the closer something is to nature, the better it's going to be for you.

If you can't get hold of raw milk - and if you do use it, I recommend you visit the farm and ensure the cows are healthy and raised organically, to make sure you don't end up sick from it! - then whole pasteurised milk is the next best thing.

For those who are lactose intolerant, I've used both rice milk and almond milk before with this recipe and they taste great too.

The honey I've used here is organic manuka honey. Manuka honey is made from the flowers of the NZ Manuka (Tea) Tree, and is renowned globally for its high levels of antibacterial properties. It's one of nature's greatest healers for wounds and burns, and is used in hospitals to fight MRSA infections. If you can't get hold of this, then any other dark bush honey will be fine.
NB - Never heat honey as it destroys the beneficial enzymes.

• To fight against hayfever, use honey as local to you as you can find. It will contain local pollen and help you build an immunity to the allergens, so you don't suffer all summer long

And one final note; this actually made enough for 2-3 servings, not one as I originally intended to make in the video!!

New Image have produced a concentrated extract of a number of the minor compounds found in colostrum.

Cellworx is absorbed so fast with such a good 'delivery method' that it begins working almost straight away; transmucosal absorption (sub-lingual/under the tongue) means it is absorbed directly into the blood stream and distributed through the body and bone marrow.

So what's in it?

Info-Peptides: These are compounds that provide regulation and signals so our immune system functions properly.

Sialyl Oligosaccharides: These are big sugar-based compounds that provide the right chemical compounds needed for your cells to communicate properly across the nerve gap. At the end of each nerve cell and the start of another is a gap of sorts, and a breakdown in communication between these can lead to all sorts of problems. Sialyl Oligosaccharides resolve this problem effectively, as well as fighting bacteria on their own, and have been shown to bind to viruses and stop them replicating through the body - one in particular being the flu virus. Bonus!

Neuro-Peptides: These are compounds that can improve cognitive response in the elderly, as well as delaying the onset of neuro-degenerative disorders. They can help stop the impact on brain tissue of free radicals, and also prevent the formative of beta-amyloid plaques forming in the brain.

Cytokines: Compounds involved in the cell-to-cell recognition and replication pathways, including IGF-1, IGF-2, TGF, EGF, and PDGF, amongst others.

And how does it work?

Cellworx comes in the form of a concentrated spray, which you spray under the tongue before you go to bed. Why Alpha Lipid?

Why Alpha Lipid?

Alpha Lipid colostrum is a patented form of bovine colostrum, made by New Image International. Essentially, the colostrum is lipid-coated in a way that enhances absorption - and the speed of absorption - by up to 100%.

What about the cows?

The colostrum comes from cows grown on pesticide-free pastures here in clean, green New Zealand, during the natural three-month calving season. The cows are free from antibiotics and growth hormones, and are not immunised to produce any specific antibodies first - something some other colostrum types are. No calves are harmed in production of Alpha Lipid Colostrum products - if a calf doesn’t get colostrum within 24 hours of birth it can’t live.

Calves need around 20% of the colostrum produced to survive, which is why they get the first fill, and the excess is used to produce Alpha Lipid Colostrum. This is the excess that most farms simply wash down the drain until milk is produced.
